The Sussex Reptile
Rescue Centre

Tails, Scales and Second Chances.

Together, we can help our scaly creatures thrive.

Henry survived because someone cared enough to help and because a specialist reptile rescue existed with the equipment, expertise, and compassion to save her.

Today, Henry is finally strong enough to begin the next chapter of her life. She is ready to find a loving, permanent home where she will be cherished and cared for in the way she always deserved.

Meet Henry

Henry is a two‑year‑old, bearded dragon who should have been safe, warm, and cared for. Instead, in February 2025, she was found dumped outside in an old fish tank, abandoned in the freezing cold, without heat, food, or even the chance to survive.

When she was discovered, Henry was barely alive. Her tiny body was shutting down, she was unresponsive, and she was minutes from death. She was rushed to The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre, where the team worked urgently to warm her, stabilise her, and fight for her life. Hour by hour, she began to recover.

Meet Charlie

Charlie is one of our cherished residents here at the Rescue Centre. At 13 years old, he is currently our eldest resident and has reached a very vulnerable stage of life. Sadly, Charlie is now suffering from a debilitating case of gout and is in urgent need of veterinary treatment. Without prompt medical care, his condition will continue to worsen, severely impacting his comfort and quality of life.

The Reality Reptiles in the UK face

Henry’s story is heartbreaking but sadly it is not unusual. Reptiles are among the most
neglected, misunderstood, and frequently abandoned animals in the UK. Every week,
rescues like ours take in animals who have been dumped, mistreated, or simply given up.
interventions is funded entirely by public support.
