Our Trustees & Volunteers

Our Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for the Charity’s vision, goals and strategy as well as the overall performance. They ensure The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre complies with legal requirements and has the highest standard possible.

Benjamin Checkley

Benjamin is a Trustee and the Founder of The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre. As a 30-year-old living with Autism and other neurodiversities, he first got into Herpetology in 2022, when he got his Bearded Dragons, Horus and Max, who were paired and successfully laid and hatched a total of 22 eggs, I, together with my parents enjoyed looking after these characterful little  beardies so The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre was born!

David Checkley

David is a Trustee, supporting Benjamin with the management of the organisation. David is graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Geography, and his main interest is the financial aspect of the charity.

His career was a Self-employed Software Engineer, mainly working for the Aerospace industry, testing and developing vital software, including for the Airbus A 380.
